Stories my father told me, By: Terry Polk

This is about Frank McCoy of McCoys Arabians, owner of FADJUR's dam BINT SAHARA. FADJUR was born at this wonderful place.

MY father and mother told me of something Frank McCoy told them once. He said, "When you visit a horse ranch, don't ever look for something to criticize about a horse. If nothing nice comes to mind, say what a pretty color it is". My father would laugh when he would tell this, and told me to never forget those words. "There is always something beautiful about an Arabian Horse" he would say. Remembering Frank and Helen, my mother always says she will never forget the time at the WAHO Conference in Cairo, Egypt in 1992. Frank was nearly blind by then, but Helen was by his side the entire time, along with other special friends of not only my parents, but best friends of Frank and Helen. Dick and MaryAnn Hatfield. My father at the shows would always call out loud to them "Hello to the Hatfields and McCoys!" During the WAHO Conference, we all loaded up in the tour bus and drove to admire the ancient Pyramids. We were sitting in the seat in front of Helen and Frank, and though Frank could not see, precious Helen was sitting near the window, telling Frank of all the sights. She would softly tell him the beauty of the Pyramids, the sun setting on the desert, the camels and Arabian horses she could see from the bus. The tour she was giving to Frank were words that will never leave our minds. Isn't it beautiful how God gave his greatest gift to us, Memories...
